LMCJ G.E.M.S
Girls Excelling in Movement and Stage Presence
LMCJ G.E.M.S. is a dynamic performing arts program designed to empower girls through dance, theater, and self-expression. Centered around movement, voice, and presence, this program helps scholars build confidence, creativity, and poise both on and off the stage.
Led by the talented Morenike Seaborn, G.E.M.S. provides a safe, supportive space for girls to explore storytelling, choreography, character development, and ensemble work — all while learning the power of collaboration and the joy of performance. Whether stepping into the spotlight or supporting behind the scenes, every G.E.M. shines.
At LMCJ, we believe that the stage is more than a performance space — it’s a platform for girls to grow, lead, and let their brilliance be seen.

LMCJ Art & Draw
Where Every Girl’s Vision Comes to Life.
LMCJ Art empowers girls to explore their creativity, express their identity, and use art as a tool for storytelling and social change. Through drawing, painting, mixed media, and more, scholars learn to think critically, create boldly, and let their voices be seen and heard. At LMCJ, art is more than a class — it’s a space for confidence, expression, and empowerment.

Story
LMCJS opened in August 2015 and is home to 250 scholars in grades 5-8. It will serve 350 scholars at total capacity in the fall of 2019.
LMCJS provides an experiential learning environment for middle school girls. Our educational philosophy focuses on actively engaging students with relevant content to help them develop their skills and broaden their experiences. We partner with Expeditionary Learning to provide structure and create practices that support this philosophy and have successfully implemented many elements of EL programming. LMCJS is an Expeditionary Learning (EL) School, an outgrowth of Outward Bound. The EL model challenges students to think critically and take active roles in their classrooms and communities, resulting in higher achievement and greater engagement in school. At LMCJS, learning is dynamic, challenging, meaningful, public, and collaborative.
