Documented destinations across multiple graduating classes include Baltimore City College, Poly, Western, Baltimore School for the Arts, Roland Park Country School, and Friends School of Baltimore. Admission depends on each high school’s process. See the full list of high school destinations.

Reading and math support varies by grade, needs, and schedule; offerings include i-Ready, grade 6 small-group intervention, and grade 8 MCAP Boost. Morning Crew is part of every grade’s schedule. Scholars build relationships, reflect on their learning, and practice caring for themselves, one another, and their community. Crew supports social-emotional learning alongside academic classes.

Scholar-Led Conferences give your family a regular opportunity to hear your daughter explain her progress and discuss next steps.

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, arrival is at 7:45 AM, instruction begins at 8:00 AM, and dismissal is at 3:30 PM. Wednesday is an early-release day, with school running from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The 2026–27 catalog lists white or gray polos for all grades, paired with charcoal gray skirts, pants, or knee-length shorts. Approved LMCJ fleece, crewneck sweatshirts, and hoodies may be worn during the school day. Leggings may be worn under skirts, but not as daily uniform bottoms.

Daily footwear can be sneakers, boots, or closed-toe flats. For PE, dance, wellness, and movement events, scholars wear an approved LMCJ top with approved athletic bottoms and sneakers. Movement leggings and shorts must be opaque and mid-thigh or longer.

Order through the LMCJ spirit wear store, include your scholar’s name and size, and pick up at the front desk. The 2026–27 catalog lists polos at $25 and scholar T-shirts at $10. Confirm current availability, pricing, and any 2027–28 policy updates with the main office before buying.

Offerings include theatre, dance, cross country, basketball, and STEM activities. Scholars also have access to a sound booth, recording lab, and Mac lab. Contact the school for the current activities, meeting times, and sign-up information.

LMCJ is a tuition-free, all-girls public charter middle school in Baltimore City serving grades 5–8. Our approach pairs rigorous academics with character development and leadership, supporting young adolescents through a time of significant growth.

Girls take the lead: they present their work, answer questions from community panels, welcome visitors as scholar ambassadors, and take part in service learning. They build relationships with other girls while practicing how to speak up and take responsibility.

Lillie May celebrates Black girls’ creativity, intellect, and leadership while welcoming eligible girls across Baltimore City. Humanities includes the history of Black and Brown people, and scholars examine social justice and community issues through their learning.

No. Admission is open to eligible girls in Baltimore City regardless of academic performance. LMCJ serves grades 5–8 and does not charge tuition.

Complete the online application for your daughter’s requested grade. Applications received by the lottery deadline enter the admissions process. If a lottery is needed, seat offers follow its results. An acknowledgment that we received your application does not mean a seat has been offered.

If your daughter receives an offer, respond by the acceptance deadline. Then complete the required enrollment forms and documents. Accepting the offer and completing enrollment are separate steps. After the lottery, rolling admissions may fill remaining seats.
