Nobody raises a leader alone.
Our scholars learn in classrooms, on a farm, in a rec center, on a stage, and alongside women who are already doing the work. These are the organizations who make that possible. Some shape how we teach. Some open a door our girls would not otherwise walk through. All of them show up.
How We Teach
The model behind the school
Two partnerships shape our practice and keep us accountable to schools doing this work well.
EL Education
A national network of schools built on Crew, learning expeditions, and student-engaged assessment.
EL is our school model. Crew, Expeditions and Celebrations of Learning, Scholar-Led Conferences, and Passage Portfolio Presentations all come from this work, adapted to who our girls are and what Baltimore asks of them.
International Coalition of Girls’ Schools
A worldwide association of schools and educators dedicated to the education of girls.
ICGS connects us to research and practice from girls’ schools around the world, and keeps a tuition-free public school in Baltimore in the same conversation as the best-resourced girls’ schools anywhere.
Where Our Scholars Learn
Classrooms without walls
Places that take our girls somewhere new, and people who make sure they belong once they arrive.
The Environment at Kings Eye
An environmental education site in partnership with the Land Preservation Trust.
Our scholars study stream restoration, native plants, and pollinator habitats, and meet women conservation professionals who look like them. For many of our girls it is the first time in a rural natural space, and the first time seeing themselves as future scientists.
Rita Church Community Center at Clifton Park
A Baltimore City Recreation and Parks center at 2101 St. Lo Drive, named for Councilwoman Rita R. Church.
Rita Church runs programming for our scholars on LMCJ’s half-day Wednesdays, so families have somewhere enriching and safe for their daughters after early dismissal.
Unselds’ School
An independent school in West Baltimore founded by the Unseld family, serving young children for more than forty years.
A neighbor school and a partner in programming. Shared learning experiences bring their offerings into our building and connect two Baltimore schools built on the same belief about what city children deserve.
Middle Grades Partnership
A Baltimore organization pairing public middle schools with independent schools for summer and school-year enrichment.
MGP funds and supports the summer and out-of-school learning that keeps our scholars climbing through the middle grades, placing them on the campus of a partner independent school, Roland Park Country School.

Arts, mentorship, and family support
Partners who bring something into the building we could not build alone.
Art With a Heart
A Baltimore nonprofit that uses visual art to build confidence and skills in young people.
Hands-on art programming for our scholars, taught by working artists.
F.A.M.E. Design Program
Fashion, Art, Mentoring, and Etiquette: an after-school mentoring program for girls in grades 4 through 8.
Creative projects and exposure to industry professionals, built to grow confidence and self-esteem in girls at exactly the age our scholars are.
The Y of Central Maryland
The Y runs community schools and after-school programs across Baltimore.
Our community school partner. The Y provides after-school care for our scholars and staffs the Community School Coordinator who connects families to food, health, and other supports.
