The most meaningful picture of a school is in the work of its scholars and the community around them. Explore LMCJ’s published annual report and visit our learning pages to see the questions, creativity, and relationships that shape school life.

Our annual report is a school storytelling and reporting resource. For a specific financial document, grant requirement, or question about how a gift was recorded, contact us directly so we can provide the appropriate information.

A conversation before a commitment

Make the purpose
clear from the start.

A general gift, a restricted project gift, an event sponsorship, and a gift of services are different arrangements. Before making a special commitment, talk with us about the intended purpose, timing, recognition, and any conditions.

For event sponsorships, benefits and availability must be confirmed for the particular event year. Please do not assume that last year’s package or a donation acknowledgment includes tickets or other benefits.

Donor questions

A little clarity
goes a long way.

How do I choose between a general gift and a campaign?

Use any available giving method. Denote Annual Fund for general school support, or the name and year of an open campaign for that purpose. If there is no memo or note field, contact us to identify the gift. If a particular program, memorial, or named fund is important to your gift, contact us to confirm the arrangement before donating.

Adding a note helps us understand your intention, but a named fund or new restriction needs a conversation and agreement with the school.

Where is my online donation receipt?

Givebutter sends a receipt to the email entered at checkout. Check that inbox and its spam folder. Receipt emails also provide access to the donor portal, where you can review your gifts and manage recurring plans.

For a PayPal gift, check your PayPal confirmation. Contact LMCJ if you need help locating an acknowledgment, correcting gift information, or documenting an offline gift. Do not include card or bank account numbers in an email.

Can I give anonymously or honor someone?

Tell us if you prefer not to be recognized publicly, or if you would like a gift listed in honor or memory of someone. Givebutter’s tribute fields can identify the person being honored. Share any requested family notification details privately with the school.

Contact us about recognition preferences or corrections. A tribute message and a formally agreed restricted fund serve different purposes.

Explore tribute and named gifts →

How are event purchases different from donations?

Tickets, tables, auction purchases, and sponsorships may include goods or services. Their acknowledgment can differ from that for a gift with no benefits. Keep the acknowledgment for the particular transaction, and ask us if you are unsure what your payment includes.

Year-round support and participation in a particular Women of the Movement event are distinct choices. Confirm your intention with us before making a special gift.

What if I need legal recipient information?

Our W-9 dated March 21, 2025 lists the recipient as The Girls Charter School Inc, EIN 46-2328012, at 2200 Sinclair Lane, Baltimore, MD 21213. The school is known as Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School. Contact us for a current W-9 or determination letter and to confirm any campaign designation, check payee instructions, or fund-sponsor requirements before initiating your gift.

Can I see a report on my designated gift?

For a proposed restricted or named gift, discuss the purpose, reporting expectations, and recognition with us in advance. For an existing gift, contact us with the donor name, approximate date, and intended purpose so we can review its record and answer your question.

General giving supports school priorities collectively. School reports and program stories should not be read as a claim that a particular donor funded a particular scholar or expense.

What if a campaign reaches its goal or its plans change?

Before giving, contact us to confirm the campaign’s current availability, deadline, and any terms governing excess gifts, a shortfall, or a change in plans. We will clarify the applicable arrangement with you. Do not assume a campaign gift will automatically become Annual Fund support or an endowment.

When will a PayPal or check gift appear in the total?

After staff confirm the payment and campaign designation, they can credit the same gift to the appropriate Givebutter campaign as an offline entry. This updates public progress without collecting your payment again. Allow time for verification and recording; contact us if you need help matching a gift.

Who can help with my question?

Contact Kristina Kyles-Smith at kristina.ksmith@lilliemay.org or call 443-320-9499. Tell us whether you are asking about a receipt, recurring gift, grant, tribute, partnership, or future gift, and we can help with the next step.

Your purpose. Your way to give.

Choose a campaign.
Choose how you give.

Choose the school purpose or open campaign you want to support, then choose an available way to give. Please write the campaign name and year, or “Annual Fund,” in the memo, designation, or note field where available. For a tribute, include the honoree’s name as well.

If there is no note field, contact us with your name, gift date, amount, and intended campaign so we can identify your gift. Please confirm a closed campaign, new restriction, named fund, or endowment arrangement with us before giving.

Check

Write the campaign name and year, or Annual Fund, in the memo. Confirm the check payee with us before mailing to LMCJ, 2200 Sinclair Lane, Baltimore, MD 21213.

Donor-advised fund

Ask us to confirm legal recipient details and campaign eligibility before recommending a grant. Include your intended campaign in the grant purpose. DAF grants should not pay for tickets, merchandise, or personal benefits.

Coordinate a DAF grant →

Employer matching

Ask whether your employer can match an eligible gift. Tell us which original gift and campaign the match relates to so we can connect the records.

Explore matching gifts →

Stock or another arranged gift

Discuss the campaign, timing, and gift with us first. Securities, transfers, pledges, and special arrangements require confirmed acceptance and verified instructions before you proceed.

Arrange your gift →

Already gave? Tell us about your gift →

Gifts received through PayPal, checks, or another method are included in the relevant campaign’s public total after staff verify and record them. They may not appear immediately. Your payment confirmation and the school’s acknowledgment help document your gift.

These options are for charitable gifts. Tickets, registrations, dues, merchandise, and sponsorships with benefits follow their own payment instructions; a donation memo does not reserve admission or purchase an item. Existing recurring gifts can continue through their current service.
