A legacy that grows with every scholar.

Growing in the legacy of Lillie May Carroll Jackson

Our school is named for Baltimore civil rights leader Lillie May Carroll Jackson. Her commitment to justice and community helps shape the way we think about leadership. We want our scholars to understand that their ideas and actions matter, and that they can make a difference in the communities they call home.

Discover what LMCJ can offer your daughter

LMCJ is a free public charter middle school for girls in grades 5–8 in Baltimore. Get a closer look at our learning, relationships, and opportunities, then come meet the community behind them.

Build your family’s journey

Choose what interests you. You can skip a step, select several experiences, or go straight to the application. These choices help us understand your interests; they do not reserve an event place.

1Learn how LMCJ works

Choosing a middle school means understanding how your daughter will learn and be supported each day. These conversations and open houses introduce our academics, Crew, activities, and admissions process, with opportunities to ask the questions that matter to your family.

2See LMCJ in action

Come beyond the school introduction and see LMCJ in action. Our community events and learning showcases offer a chance to meet scholars and families, experience our traditions, and see how girls share their ideas and accomplishments. Some opportunities are intended for scholars who have received a seat offer, as noted below.

3Connect with our community

Getting to know a school also means meeting the people who care about it. These community gatherings and fundraising events offer another way to connect with LMCJ families and supporters while learning about the opportunities they help make possible for our girls. Ticket and participation details will be shared separately; expressing interest does not purchase admission.

4Prepare for the application process

Your family can take part in these experiences and apply at the same time. Completing the official application lets LMCJ consider your scholar for admission; choosing events here does not submit that application. Admission depends on seat availability, with a lottery when required.

Application deadlines and any lottery date will appear here once confirmed. We’ll guide offered families through acceptance and registration.
