Learning
to See.
Quality, craft, and a shared walkthrough.
One morning. A sharper lens on student work.

Quality became
something to look for.
The Hub opened at Lillie May with Ron Berger and a question that reaches beyond any single classroom: what does quality look like in the work students create?
The session connected quality and craft with a shared walkthrough of Lillie May. A collective love letter carried the learning back to our hosts through specific observations of student work and learning.
From a shared lens
to a shared letter.
Quality as craft
Ron Berger’s learning session centered quality, craftsmanship, and work students can take pride in.
Walk the school
The walkthrough lens focused attention on demanding work, authentic products, student agency and identity, and adult inquiry.
Make noticing matter
The collective letter to Lillie May turned observations into warm, specific feedback for the school community.
This is where it started.
“And they held rubrics like they meant something, using them to give each other real feedback and talk honestly about their work.”

Next time,
be in the room.
Bring the questions these sessions opened up. Our next gathering with Jal Mehta takes on constraints and problems of practice—moving from what we notice toward what we can change together.
